Originally, the Arcaenum was a Battalion perpetually led by the [[Necromancer]] [[Abra]]. This was a policy that made sense up until the 2019 event, [[Sequence]]. After the events leading to Abra's Reddit account being banned, leadership worked to re-evaluate tactics and strategies.
 
After the 2019 Grandmaster Election, Grandmaster Gryph667 introduced the Mutare Magia Act to amend the Constitution and convert the Arcaenum into a Division and create the Archmage rank and title as the Upper Council member and Arcaenum leader. The group has operated in this format from that point to the present.
