Grandmaster

The Grandmaster is the supreme leader of the April Knights. It is the only elected position involving a vote from all Knights. Every year, we hold an election to select the Grandmaster for the next year. Every Captain or Commander with two years of service is eligible to be nominated, except for the pre-selection Election Administrator.

Appointment

The Grandmaster is appointed by popular vote, as stated in the constitution. Every knight may vote in the election, and may make a nomination for the position. Only captions and commanders with at least two years of experience are eligible to be nominated. Voting is done by ranked choice. A Grandmaster serves until the next grandmaster is sworn in.

Powers

The powers of the Grandmaster are set forth in the constitution. They are the supreme commander of all Knight forces and are the chief executive. The Grandmaster has full power to exert their authority over all operations. They have the power to declare war, and to negotiate treaties. They also have to power to introduce legislation.

The Grandmaster appoints all members of the Upper Council, with the exception of themselves. They also have the power to veto legislation.

The Grandmaster has the power to raise new battalions through a simple majority of the upper council. They also have the authority to nominate new commanders.
